Microsoft has provided several upgrade options for Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 R2.

You have a Windows 2000 file server. What will your upgrade path be to Windows Server 2008 R2?
- Solution
Windows 2000 was not available as an x64 build. Windows Server 2008 R2 is available only as an x64 build. You will have to prepare a new machine with Windows Server 2008 R2. You will then migrate the services and data from the Windows 2000 machine to the Windows Server 2008 R2 machine.
