Business Process Models

Business process models demonstrate a set of activities that together achieve a business objective. Business process models can be in a number of forms—for example, UML activity diagrams, BPMN diagrams, data flow diagrams, or flowcharts. What you use or call them doesn’t matter. It’s what you do with them that matters.

If you are familiar with process models, skip ahead. If not, take a look at the simple process model depicted in Figure 22.1. The process model shows the business activities—each one a recognizable chunk of functionality—and the sequence in which they are organized to achieve the goal.
