Appendix A Number Systems

The most commonly used numbering system and the one that you use every day is the decimal number system. In a decimal numbering system, each position contains 10 different possible digits. Because there are 10 different possible digits, the decimal number system are numbers with base 10. These digits are 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9. To count values larger than 9, each position away from the decimal point in a decimal number increases in value by a multiple of 10. See Table A.1.

Therefore, the value is 200+30+4=234.
