Multiple-Server Deployments

Microsoft CRM Server can be spread across multiple servers during deployment (and later, if necessary). Multiple servers offer these benefits:

• Scalability

• Performance

• Server resource allocation and control

• Shortened disaster recovery time

• Server roles

Server roles provide the capability to deploy specific services and components to different computers for scaling and performance benefits.

You can select two predefined server role groupings when installing Microsoft Dynamics CRM under the Custom Setup process, as shown in Figure 4.7. By default, both server role groupings are installed with a typical install.

• The Front End Server role provides the Microsoft Dynamics CRM web user interface and services.
