Although email Address policies allow you to define and apply different patterns for SMTP addresses, Exchange 2010 does not provide policies to control the generation of display names, which is the attribute that Exchange uses to sort objects in the Global Address List (GAL) and Exchange Management Console (EMC) and also for recipients and authors in message headers.

Table 6-1 lists the different attributes for the various names or name components used by Exchange that are stored in the Active Directory directory service.
