Database management
Database management covers many different topics. We start with a discussion about the basic files that constitute an Exchange mailbox database (see Figure 7-2) and then go on to discuss some of the finer details about how transaction logs and the other files are used.

The most important files that you will see in the directory used to hold an Exchange database are the following:
Database file: For example, Vip.edb. All of the tables and data required to provide content to clients are held in the database.
