Chapter 4. Using Timesaving Tools

You can accomplish work faster in PowerPoint with tools that can help make routine work less tedious. For example, if you have slides in another presentation that would fit with your current presentation, you can paste those slides into your current work without having to recreate the slides. You can also get a quick start on your work by converting a Word outline into a PowerPoint presentation.

You can eliminate guesswork by using the Format Painter to copy text and graphics effects from one place to another in your presentation. You can even turn one of your favorite presentations into a Design Template that you can use to create future presentations.

If you have access to a SharePoint site where you work, you can take advantage of one of PowerPoint 2007’s most useful features: the Slide Library. This is a slide repository that resides on a server. You can use slides from a slide library and publish your own slides to a slide library.

If you have ever wondered if there is a faster way to perform repetitive tasks, macros can help. You can create macros that help automate tasks by using PowerPoint’s built-in support for Visual Basic for Applications code.
