Chapter 5. Receiving and reading email

To receive email messages that have been sent to you, Microsoft Outlook 2013 connects to an email server on which messages are stored (such as servers located on a local area network or the Internet) and downloads the messages (or copies of them) to your Inbox folder. From there, you can read a message, reply, forward it to someone, flag it for later action, and open file attachments. In most cases, messages that you download are deleted from the server automatically after they’re downloaded.
