Summary
This chapter introduced the .NET Compact Framework and explained how it provides an improved development experience compared to previous development tools. Two of its major strengths are its strong compatibility with the full .NET Framework and that the development tools are a fully integrated part of Visual Studio .NET 2003.
We walked through the development of a simple project to explain how to use the developer tools integrated into Visual Studio .NET 2003. We also positioned the .NET Compact Framework against other Microsoft software products for mobility, such as ASP.NET mobile controls and eMbedded Visual Tools.
