Optimizing SharePoint 2013

Microsoft has continued to improve SharePoint by adding more features and functionality targeted at scaling and improving performance. In SharePoint 2010, we were introduced to a new concept called service applications. These Windows Communication Foundation (WCF) services could be run across multiple web fronts-ends (WFEs) or application servers, and internally, they were load balanced by SharePoint, no external load balancer was needed. SharePoint 2010 also provided list and query throttling to prevent farms from being overwhelmed by users who tried to query and delete large lists.
