The Contextual Ribbon in Review

The ribbon is referred to as the contextual ribbon because it dynamically swaps out commands based on the current status, or editing status, of the page. For instance, if you are working with lists or document libraries, then the Library Tools contextual tab displays. In Figure 3.4, a document within a document library is selected and the ribbon’s Documents tab reveals available commands. Additionally, some commands are only enabled if a single item within the library is selected, such as the View and Edit Properties commands, and other commands allow for multi-selection, such as the Delete command.
