Navigational Options in SharePoint 2010
Navigation in SharePoint sites is driven by the site’s master page. For instance, the out-of-the-box v4.master page leverages the new popout style breadcrumb menu and the nightandday.master page leverages the more traditional breadcrumb navigation. Figure 5.1 shows the home page of a site provisioned from the Enterprise Wiki site template. By default the Enterprise Wiki site template is based on the v4.master page, which includes both top and left-hand navigation, along with a popout breadcrumb navigation control in the ribbon, also shown in Figure 5.1.
