Enhanced Site Templates: Document Center Site Template
The Document Center Site template is a template specifically geared at managing site collection documents. It includes built-in functionality and features for managing document versioning and metadata. The Document Center site template was also included as one of the available site templates in SharePoint Server 2007, though it has been revamped in SharePoint Server 2010 to include the new Document ID features. However, where the Document Center Site template is used depends on the type of out-of-the-box functionality included with the template.
