Creating New Site Columns
To add a new site column, click the Site Columns tab in the left-hand navigational menu and then on the site columns page click the New Column command in the ribbon’s New group, as shown in Figure 9.29.
An important part of creating columns involves choosing the data type on which to base the column because some data types cannot be changed after you’ve created columns. In SharePoint Designer, you may create a column based on one of the data types shown in Figure 9.30.
