Changing the Quick Launch Menu
A lot of emphasis is typically placed on styling and modifying the top-level menu in SharePoint 2010 sites. However, the Quick Launch menu, like the top-level menu, can easily be styled and customized in SharePoint Designer. Although it is more typically used in internal SharePoint deployments, you should not overlook it when planning your SharePoint navigational strategy.
Like the top-level menu, the Quick Launch menu renders as a simple list, which makes it easy to style. For instance, Figure 17.122 shows an example of a lightly styled Quick Launch menu in a site based on the v4.master page, which was accomplished using CSS.
