Chapter 11. Upgrading from a Previous Version
IN THIS CHAPTER
SQL Server 2005 Compact Edition replaces the Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Windows CE Edition (SQL Server CE version 2.0). The SQL Server Compact Edition 3.x database file is not compatible with the SQL Server CE 2.0 database file. If you have used this previous version, you may find a need to upgrade your database file to the new format before leveraging this database engine. Although the binary format of some of the previous databases is not supported in this release, a tool is available to aid in the migration of schema and data to the new database format.
