The purpose of this appendix is to help you get started and set up your environment so that you have everything you need to get the most out of this book.
The first section, "Installing SQL Server,” walks you through the installation process in case you don’t already have an instance of Microsoft SQL Server 2008 to connect to for practicing the materials from the book. If you already have an instance of SQL Server to connect to, feel free to skip the first section.
