Setting Up Data Collection

After you configure the Management Data Warehouse collection database, you need to configure the instance to start collecting data from. To set up data collection, follow these steps:

1. Run the Configure Management Data Warehouse Wizard again. Refer to steps 1 and 2 from the previous section.
2. In the Task Selection screen, select Set Up Data Collection, and click Next, as shown in Figure 43.8.

3. Select the server name and database to store the collected data. In this example, it should be the server and database configured in the previous section. In this screen, you can also select a folder to temporarily store collected data before it uploads to the MDW database. If no folder is selected, the TEMP folder will be used. Click Next. Figure 43.9 shows the MDW storage configuration screen.

4. Review the summary of actions to be performed, and click Finish, as shown in Figure 43.10.
