This chapter describes two special data forms: spatial data and temporal data. The first part of the chapter covers spatial data and has two major sections. The introductory section describes the most important general issues about spatial data that you need to understand before you begin to work with spatial data. Besides different spatial models and formats, this section introduces both of the data types supported by the Database Engine, GEOMETRY and GEOGRAPHY.
