Microsoft Word’s Insert menu (Figure 1) includes a number of commands that you can use to insert special text into your documents:

  • AutoText submenu commands enable you to create and insert AutoText entries, which are commonly used text snippets, such as your name or the closing of a letter.

  • Field enables you to insert Word fields, which are pieces of information that change as necessary, such as the date, file size, or page number.

  • Date and Time inserts a date or time field than can automatically update to reflect the current date or time.

  • Page Numbers inserts a page number field ...
