As far as networks go, risk represents the likelihood that a threat actor will carry out a threat and exploit a vulnerability, which will have security-related consequences to the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of data, resources, and assets. There’s no foolproof design to network security. Threat agents include insiders, outsiders, and even Mother Nature. Threat agents need just one mere vulnerability to exploit, but the security team needs to constantly defend against all possible attack vectors.
