Multi-Cell MIMO
Chapters 5 to 11 were dealing with a single link in a single cell network: schemes (sometimes known as SU-MIMO) were designed with the aims of increasing the link reliability against fading (through the diversity gain) or the link throughput (through the spatial multiplexing gain and the array gain). In Chapter 12, we looked at multiple links (i.e., multiple users) in a single cell network and derived MU-MIMO schemes. The emphasis was on maximizing the sum throughput (i.e., the sum-rate) rather than the link throughput, as well as managing the multi-user interference in a single cell network.
