The immediacy of digital is both a blessing and a curse. Today, dailies are often viewed by people alone in their homes, in the office, on a tablet or computer screen, and the excitement that once existed has been diluted. When key creatives used to gather in a darkened room to watch the circled takes, it meant something magical was about to happen. They could offer feedback in person and collectively address issues for the next shooting day. Something may have been lost in the communal aspect of filmmaking when digital appeared.
