How to Read This Book
The film business uses countless abbreviations, shorthand, acronyms and jargon. It is assumed that the reader knows what the initials stand for; but should a phrase or shorthand name be unclear, a Glossary is available at the back of the book that takes the time to explain terms in more detail. Words in bold are featured there. Sidebars are used to explain certain key concepts or to serve as historical footnotes. They may also contain helpful tips or tricks for filmmakers.
