An Overview of the Microsoft Azure Cloud Platform
The goal of this book is to guide you on your legacy modernization journey to the Microsoft Azure cloud. Up to now, we have spent some time providing an overview of the legacy platforms you will probably encounter. Now, it’s time to take a look at the landing zone, which is the Microsoft Azure platform itself. Here, in Chapter 5, we will provide an overview of the Azure platform, with a specific focus on Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and what it means to be cloud native. So, let’s get started.
However, before we dive into a brief history of Azure, we should define some terms that we will be using for clarity. We list them here:
