In this, our final, chapter, we rise above the day-to-day struggles of modernizing legacy systems and consider the principles that can guide you along your path to fully evolvable, modernized systems.

Find a better way of doing things rather than simply trying to improve the way things have been done in the past. Many modernization efforts simply replace old legacy code with new legacy code.
