Getting the Most from the Web Browser

You already use web browsers. You may use Safari on a Mac, Internet Explorer on a PC, or Firefox or Chrome there or elsewhere. You may be experienced in “fake” web browsers, too, such as the kind you find on smaller cell phones. You'll find a full-fledged web browser on your Xoom, in the app appropriately named Browser. Figure 5-1 shows the Browser.

CHAPTER 2 INTRODUCED THE BASICS You learned a little about the Browser in Chapter 2 (“How Do I Use the Apps and Features Included with the Motorola Xoom?”), specifically how to search using the Voice Search feature and by typing keywords, and how to locate, sign in, and create shortcuts for your favorite social networking websites on a Home screen. This isn't covered again here, but you should try to incorporate the Voice Search feature anytime you can, both in this app and in others on your Xoom.

As with other web browsers you've used on PCs and Macs, you can find the following features in the Browser app:

• Back, Forward, and Refresh buttons
• A Search window (On the Xoom this is also where the URL is.)
• Tabbed browsing
• The ability to save, organize, and recall bookmarks
• Incognito sessions to browse privately
