Appendix A. ID3v1 Genres

Genre identifiers in the ID3v1 specification can be referenced either by name or by identifying number (as is common with tools such as id3ren, covered in Chapter 4). Appendix X lists the genre names and IDs commonly accepted as “standard;” officially, any other value will be considered as “Unknown.” Table 1.2 lists WinAmp’s extensions to the standard, which are also filtering into wide usage.
