9. Generating Buzz with MySpace Blogs
Blogs (or weblogs) as we know them today emerged on the scene sometime in 1994. They were used primarily as digital journals in which authors shared their thoughts and findings from around the Web (see Figure 9.1). In most cases they covered topics like the latest news and updates about the author’s cat. However, the focus quickly turned away from felines and toward topics like business and personal branding. Now thousands of people make a living as bloggers, writing about a wide range of niche topics.
