Chapter 4. Quantitative Measurements in Network Baselining
When conducting a protocol analysis for the purpose of proactive review of a network's operation, many different metric and statistical measurements prove valuable for each session. This is also true when performing a reactive network emergency troubleshooting analysis.
Certain statistical metric measurements are considered standard and are required to effectively perform a network baseline session. The required measurements can be gathered from a protocol analyzer and specific management systems. Figure 4.1 shows the main network baseline statistical measurements.
