Once you've learned the basic layout of the Nikon D200 and how to activate its primary controls, there are two more tasks to complete to gain total mastery over your digital SLR. First, you'll need to learn how to apply the D200's exposure, focus, white balance, and image-tweaking controls. I show you how to do that in this chapter. Then, you'll be ready to use the camera's other playback, shooting, setup, and custom menu settings to define the default values for other parameters, which you tackle in Chapter 3.
As you work through these next two chapters, you'll find that the D200 has a dazzling array of options and choices you can make. Although the large number of alternatives available might seem daunting at first, you'll soon discover that the ability to fine-tune the way your camera operates gives you the greatest possible control over your results.
