Instrumenting Applications and Infrastructure
The previous chapter introduced observability, with examples outside of the computing world to give you a generic understanding of the subject. In this chapter, we’ll build on those examples by providing a high-level overview of both application and infrastructure instrumentation. We will look at the data created by systems and how that fits into the different telemetry types and common protocols in use. We will also explore widely used libraries for popular programming languages that simplify instrumenting applications.
