Physical Spill Countermeasures on Water—Response in Fast Currents

Abstract

Response to oil spill in fast currents can be very dangerous and responders need large amounts of experience and practice. Responder first needs to understand the oil characteristics, know the conditions, select the appropriate tactics, and then safely execute the tactic. There are variations of each tactic depending upon the situation. The available equipment and location will influence the tactic selection as well.
