10.13.1. Worker Health and Safety Precautions

To protect the health and safety of workers involved with in situ burning, a thorough HASP must be established and be well understood by all personnel involved before the operation begins. As with any operation in which health and safety are issues, workers are responsible for their own safety and for the safety of their coworkers. To assist in the development of proper HASPs for in situ burning, much of the information required can be obtained from firefighting associations. Table 10.22 shows safe distances from various areas of boomed burns.
