Snapshots are a feature of Hyper-V that provide a quick and easy way to revert a virtual machine to an earlier state. This can be useful for example if you need to recreate a specific state or condition in order to troubleshoot a problem or demonstrate some functionality. Snapshots are mainly intended for use in development and test environments and are generally risky to use in production environments that use Active Directory.
