Let's begin our discussion of performance with a quick review of key performance terminology. We say “key” because we use this terminology throughout the book. If you're new to performance, you should read this chapter thoroughly. If you're an experienced performance analyst, you should at least glance through it for new terms or to be sure you understand our use of the more ambiguous performance terms.
