Managing the“Stressed-Out” Employee

IN THE WORKPLACE, you interact with a great many people—customers, vendors, peers, subordinates, and bosses. Any of them might have problems with stress, and those problems can be rooted in any of a wide range of causes. It is not always appropriate for you to engage the person on the matter. But there is one case where you must take responsibility: When an employee over whom you have direct supervisory authority is suffering the effects of poorly managed stress, you must take action to help.
