I choose to make tintypes because what I am creating is a one-of-a-kind image that can be manipulated and pushed in new ways that were never attempted 150 years ago when the process was current. The users in the 19th century were looking to make clean, crisp images that were as perfect as possible; they did not appreciate the imperfections and the limitations of the process. However, today it is just those imperfections and limitations leaving the medium open for personal interpretation and exploration that is quite exciting.
