Chapter 5Working with Text

Photoshop is more than just graphics. You can do a great deal with text, too! In this chapter, I’ll start out by showing you how to do simple tasks, like adjusting the space between lines and letters. Then, we’ll move on to working with paths, adding layer effects, and much, much more!

Adding a Single Line of Text

Adding a single line of text to your document is straightforward with Photoshop’s Type Tool.

Solution

Select the Horizontal Type Tool (T) from the toolbox, and click once in your document. A flashing text cursor will appear, and a new layer will be created in the Layers panel as shown in Figure 5.1. You can begin typing right away.
