An animation is a file that changes over time. It differs from a video file because it is created movement rather than recorded movement. Photoshop has the ability to animate in several different ways.

This part will introduce you to two different Animation palettes: the Animation (Timeline) palette and the Animation (Frames) palette. You can create animations effectively with either palette, although each has its own particular strengths and drawbacks. You will get to know the tools in both palettes and which palette is best used in which situation.

This part also shows you how to animate in several different ways using both palettes. You can change the properties of an individual layer over time using keyframes to create an animation effect, or you can draw or create frame-by-frame to create animation techniques. You will learn what properties you can animate and the most effective ways to animate them. You will also learn how to create frame-by-frame animation and how to use shortcuts that can save time in this process.
