Total Rewards

An organization’s total rewards package is a critical tool for employee retention, attraction, and motivation. While previous chapters have laid the groundwork for executing total rewards, senior human resource professionals should concern themselves with the development and analysis of total rewards programs, as well as the implication these programs have on the organization’s strategic plan and culture. Material from Chapter 7 will likely be included on the SPHR exam, so it would be wise to review it in concert with this chapter. The Total Rewards functional area makes up 12 percent of the SPHR exam.
