Closing Thoughts
As you become more confident in practicing the basics of color theory, I hope that you discover your own personal style to bring a story to life on canvas. Just remember: It doesn’t have to be overwhelming. I still use my simple rule of three when I approach each painting: What three values of color would I use to recreate an object? How would I divide a composition into thirds? And how can I reuse a color in at least three places on a canvas? From this simple start, I add additional colors and detail, but the starting point is always the same. Even my most complex paintings begin with this concept.
