As I sit here writing in late 2025, we all find ourselves standing at the threshold of an economic shift more profound than the Industrial Revolution. Unfolding at the speed of light, this change is being driven not by steam or steel, but by something infinitely more powerful than anything we have ever seen: the magic of computers.

Over two decades ago, the futurist Ray Kurzweil predicted that by 2045, nonbiological intelligence will be one billion times more powerful than all human thought combined. In a pivotal moment he calls “the Singularity,” this super‐intelligence will merge with our biological brains, irreversibly transforming human life to such an extent that there will be “no distinction, post‐Singularity, between human and machine.”2 The title of a follow‐up he authored in 2024 tells you everything you need to know: The Singularity Is Nearer. As the people building this super‐intelligence set out timelines that would have sounded delusional just five years ago, even Kurzweil concedes that he was wrong. The Singularity will likely happen before 2045, so we'd better get ready. But how?
