4. Flow Measurement, Various Measuring Points, Various Types, and Range Selection

Flow measurement in a power plant is a very important parameter. Whenever the word “total” is used, the mass flow comes into the picture. Everything like ultimate power output, efficiency of the power plant, total enthalpy, etc., depends on the mass flow of steam, coal, and oil. Various kinds of flow meters are shown in Figure IV/4.0-1 with selection guidelines from permanent pressure loss, discharge coefficient variations, etc.
