I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
A. Installation Instructions for Asterisk 1.4
These instructions install the components necessary to use all the features covered in this book (except where otherwise indicated). As a result, it is a little more comprehensive than a typical installation but offers the advantage that you won’t have to install additional components in the future.
Tip
If you don’t want to install a new operating system on the computer, you can try installing using a KNOPPIX Live System.
We assume a freshly installed Debian GNU/Linux 5.0 (Lenny). You can find an ISO image for the installation CD at www.debian.org/releases/lenny/debian-installer. We recommend the 150MB network install image. (You will most likely need the one for the i386 architecture.) You can ...
