5Application to Biomedical Signals
5.1 Brain Signals
Among electrophysiological signals we can distinguish: signals generated by brain, heart and muscles. These connected with brain activity are: electroencephalogram (EEG), event-related potentials (ERP), electrocorticograms (ECoG), local field potentials (LFP). Since variable electric field generates magnetic field we will consider here also: magnetoencephalograms (MEG) and evoked fields (EF). Brain activity may be probed also by means of functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) and functional Near Infrared Spectroscopy (fNIRS)
