I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Installing Wireshark
The Wireshark installation process is surprisingly simple. However, before you install Wireshark, make sure that your system meets the following requirements:
400 MHz processor or faster
128MB RAM
At least 75MB of available storage space
NIC that supports promiscuous mode
WinPcap capture driver
The WinPcap capture driver is the Windows implementation of the pcap packet-capturing application programming interface (API). Simply put, this driver interacts with your operating system to capture raw packet data, apply filters, and switch the NIC in and out of promiscuous mode.
Although you can download WinPcap separately (from http://www.winpcap.org/), it is typically better to install WinPcap from the Wireshark installation package, because ...
