Downloading

To get started, first download the most recent stable version of Scala.[9] Get the appropriate version for the platform you’re on.

The examples in this book were tested with the following version of Scala:

Scala code runner version 2.11.7 -- Copyright 2002-2013, LAMP/EPFL

In addition to Scala, you’ll need the JDK version 1.6 or newer. Take a moment to check which version of Java is installed and active on your system.

Once the download is complete, let’s proceed to getting Scala installed on the system.
