Pictorial Marks
Pictorial marks refer to logos that use a meaningful icon as a primary identifier of the brand. For example, the logos of Shell, Apple, Twitter, Target, and Starbucks are pictorial marks. They are by far the most widespread and effective forms of logo design.
Pictorial marks are powerful identifiers of the brand, and they directly or metaphorically represent the essence of the brand. If the brand wants to depict its activity via logo imagery, the most versatile form of expressing complex concepts would be via pictorial mark.
