The User Profile Infrastructure
In this section, my aim is to give you some context for various architectural components that combine to make the User Profile and User Profile Synchronization infrastructure. Figure 4-1 shows a pictorial overview of the components, and provides a logical view of the services and service applications involved. Following the infrastructure overview, we'll configure a new User Profile Service and Sync in a virgin SharePoint 2010 farm.
